Tnb will implement a 14.2% increase in the base electricity tariff for Peninsular Malaysia, effective July 1, 2025.
The new tariff will be set at 45.62 sen per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared to the current 39.95 sen/kWh under the ongoing Regulatory Period 3 (RP3).
Tnb also announced the continuation of the 7.3% regulatory rate of return under Regulatory Period 4 (RP4), enabling vital industry investments to meet rising electricity demand.
Tnb rates hike
The Electricity Industry Fund (KWIE) will address cost differences from January to June 2025.
A RM42.8 billion capex allocation under RP4 supports energy transition and operational upgrades. TNB assured no financial impact from rising fuel costs.
