PUTRAJAYA, Dec 29 — JAKIM clarified that halal certification in Malaysia remains voluntary, with no legal mandate for its application. Director-General Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee emphasized that SPHM enhances the credibility of businesses by adhering to halal standards. While local authorities may require certification for business license renewals, JAKIM advises clear communication to avoid confusion. JAKIM and state religious bodies continue to encourage halal certification to promote quality and expand market opportunities. This strategic collaboration aims to ensure businesses meet halal requirements while enhancing their competitiveness.
