PETALING JAYA: Umno has called off a planned solidarity rally on Jan 6 outside the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya. The party’s secretary-general, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, announced the decision on Jan 3, citing respect for a royal decree from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and advice from the Inspector-General of Police.

The rally was intended to support former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak amid a Court of Appeal hearing regarding his potential house arrest. Asyraf emphasized Umno’s commitment to constitutional processes, expressing trust in the Agong’s wisdom and compassion to deliver justice through legal channels.
