Malaysia’s professional mixed doubles pair, Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai, advanced to the semifinals of the Malaysia Open 2025 at Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. The world No. 6 duo defeated China’s Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi in the quarterfinals at the Axiata Arena.

The 35- and 32-year-old husband-and-wife team secured the first set 21-15. Despite a spirited challenge from their Chinese opponents in the second set, Soon Huat and Shevon’s experience proved decisive, sealing a 22-20 victory in 47 minutes.
Shevon expressed joy over their win, especially in front of a home crowd, thanking fans for their support. This victory brings their head-to-head record against Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi to 3-2.
