Specialist consultation fees surged from RM15 to RM50, while ward admission charges for single adult rooms jumped from RM120 to RM300 per day.

Patients like J. Pang, a 49-year-old cancer survivor, worry about affording follow-up care. “With no fixed income, I may cut back on appointments,” she shared. UMMC’s rates now surpass many government hospitals, intensifying fears of increased pressure on already strained public facilities as lower-income patients seek alternatives.
