Tan Sri Vincent Tan, founder of Berjaya Corporation, urged Malaysians to cease boycotting Starbucks following the announcement of a Gaza ceasefire, calling it “good news for all.” He highlighted that nearly 85% of Starbucks employees in Malaysia are Muslims, and boycotts only harm locals. Addressing rising competition from premium coffee brands, he welcomed it as a driver for quality improvement. Tan also hinted at undisclosed strategies to keep Starbucks as the preferred choice among consumers.

Cease boycott

“Now that there is news of a ceasefire in Gaza, this is truly good news for everyone. Gaza will be peaceful again, which is what we all want.

“So why should we boycott Starbucks anymore? There is no need for it now,” he told reporters after visiting Pulau Ketam on Friday.
