TikTok resumed services to its 170 million U.S. users after President-elect Donald Trump announced he would issue an executive order to delay a ban on the app when he takes office Monday. The Chinese-owned platform went offline Saturday evening as a law banning it on national security grounds took effect. Trump, previously a supporter of the ban, promised to extend the deadline to negotiate a deal. TikTok thanked Trump for his assurance and restored access Sunday. Despite the Supreme Court upholding the ban, Trump’s order is expected to prevent enforcement. TikTok CEO Shou Chew will attend Trump’s inauguration.
