Vegetable Prices Surge in Penang Ahead of Chinese New Year
Tomato prices have more than doubled, from RM4 to RM10 per kilogram, while other vegetables have also seen significant increases. Imported vegetables from China remain stable in price.
Traders attribute the hike to recent heavy rains affecting local output. Despite high demand for tomatoes, prices for herbs like curry leaves remain stable. The trend of rising prices persists with no signs of dropping.
