Police Summon Comedian Over Alleged Insulting Facebook Post

The police have summoned a local comedian-actor for allegedly posting on Facebook about ‘ham,’ which is said to insult Islam, according to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain. The police recorded the 54-year-old comedian’s statement last Wednesday.

Another individual linked to the case has also been identified and is being tracked down. The police received 16 reports on the “ham” issue and have opened an investigation under sections 298 and 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The post was made during the recent controversy over the halal status of a ‘ham and cheese’ sandwich.
