The donations helped settle damages in a defamation suit filed by three DAP leaders—Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, and Teresa Kok—over her claims linking them to communist leader Chin Peng. Hashim highlighted the unity within PAS in raising the funds, emphasizing that this collective effort reflects the party’s ethos. Although the case is under appeal, the timely payment avoided a costly by-election, preserving the party’s position in Parliament. She must be very popular to get such massive support.
