Last year, a Malaysian family was reprimanded for setting up picnic mats and canopies. Violators can be fined RM1,000. Social media users criticized the enforcement, calling it a sabotage of tourism.
Negeri Sembilan’s Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, emphasized using only picnic mats on beaches. The public is unhappy with the no-camping policy.
