A 61-year-old mechanic was caught riding his motorcycle without renewing its road tax for 23 years during a JPJ operation in Ipoh. Perak JPJ chief Mohammad Yusoff Abustan said the road tax expired in 2002, violating Section 23(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The man claimed he only rode within residential areas, but authorities stressed that all vehicles require a valid Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) for registration, taxation, and safety compliance. His motorcycle was seized, and he faces strict action. JPJ warned that uninsured vehicles pose risks in accidents, complicating matters for both owners and victims.
