Mom and undergraduate daughter claim trial to stealing gold ring

In Melaka, a mother and her undergraduate daughter have pleaded not guilty to stealing jewelry while providing house cleaning services. S. Wairavi, 46, is accused of stealing a gold ring from a 61-year-old victim, while her daughter, C. Tharshini, 19, faces two charges for stealing a gold choker and earrings from a 17-year-old victim. The alleged thefts occurred between Dec 1, 2024, and Jan 13, 2025, in Taman Seri Mangga. Charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code, they face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. The court set bail at RM10,000 each, with the next mention on March 17.
