Proton Holdings Bhd’s new EV assembly plant in Tanjung Malim will strengthen the Automotive High Technology Valley (AHTV), creating over 3,000 jobs. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad stated the RM82 million plant, Malaysia’s first for new energy vehicles, marks a significant investment in green technology.

Expected to produce 20,000 units annually by the end of 2025, it will feature models like Proton e.MAS 7. Saarani highlighted Malaysia’s strong automotive ecosystem and initiatives like 10,000 EV charging stations by 2025, emphasizing connectivity and infrastructure to attract investments and boost the high-tech industry.
