Police have launched an investigation into a gathering and hunger strike held by families of detainees under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) outside Sungai Buloh Prison. Around 40 to 50 people, including children, gathered with banners demanding the act’s abolition. Sungai Buloh Police Chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor stated that the protestors may face fines of up to RM10,000 for failing to notify authorities. Police are identifying those involved for questioning. The hunger strike began after visitation requests were denied, with families urging the government to repeal Sosma. Investigations are ongoing under the Peaceful Assembly Act.
