Thousands of devotees traveling to Batu Caves for Thaipusam faced chaos as KTM stations became overcrowded due to free train services. Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple chairman R Nadarajah blamed the overwhelming crowds on the lack of proper crowd management. Commuters, including Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s Kebir Singh, were left stranded as packed trains arrived infrequently, forcing many to seek alternative transport. Singh called the 24-hour KTM operations a “complete disaster” and urged the government to improve scheduling and real-time monitoring. As frustration mounted, devotees demanded better public transport planning for major religious events to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
