DAP MP Lim Lip Eng condemned the police for briefly arresting Suaram executive director Sevan Doraisamy, calling it an act of intimidation against civil society. Sevan was detained for allegedly entering the Home Ministry without a pass while accompanying families of Sosma detainees on hunger strike. Although released after an hour, the arrest highlights ongoing harassment of activists. Lim urged authorities to stop suppressing human rights defenders and instead engage them constructively. He stressed that enforcement agencies should focus on justice, not bullying those fighting for Malaysians’ rights, warning that such actions damage Malaysia’s international reputation.
