A controversial debate happened after a Malaysian woman claimed to have been abused in a tahfiz after refusing to wear a hijab when she was a child. There are those who state that it is a necessary thing for a woman to wear, while others claim it is a choice.

Netizens ask if Malaysian women have no social penalties if they’re not wearing hijab

Some brush this issue off citing that it is not a matter of life and death to which the more liberal crowd disagreed with.
