PKR President and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has left it to the party’s Central Leadership Council (MPP) to decide on contesting the President and Deputy President posts in the upcoming May elections, stating he will not interfere. Some party members, led by PKR International Bureau Chairman Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, are lobbying for a no-contest for top positions. The Deputy President post is currently held by Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli. As per the party’s constitution, if Anwar defends his position, it would be his last term. He emphasized letting democracy take its course.
