The Federal Territories Department (JWP) has identified 139 land parcels spanning 1,228.95 hectares for potential redevelopment. Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa said these sites, according to the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 and Draft Kuala Lumpur Local Plan 2040, could be used for affordable housing.
Kuala Lumpur’s 2040 Plans Include Major Affordable Housing Projects
The Draft DPTKL2040 introduced Residential 4 Land Use for affordable housing projects. Affordable housing is also planned within high-density residential, commercial, and mixed-use development zones. The redevelopment will involve private sector participation.
DBKL will propose vertical schools to address land constraints. A total of 80,000 units under Residensi MADANI and RUMAWIP are planned by 2028.
