Pendang MP Awang Solahuddin Hashim accused a DAP minister of interfering in Islamic matters, questioning the Unity Ministry’s role in fostering harmony. In the Dewan Rakyat, he claimed the minister objected to the Ipoh City Council’s plan to expand an alcohol sales ban in predominantly Malay-Muslim areas, allegedly overstepping state jurisdiction. Awang also criticized the minister for allegedly mocking Islam by making light of solat hajat (prayer seeking help), questioning his understanding of Islamic practices. While he did not name the minister, it is believed he was referring to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
