Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad dismissed claims that appointing special officers in opposition-held constituencies was a political threat. He said the 26 officers were meant to improve government administration in those areas. Opposition assemblyman Husairi Ariffin alleged corruption, fearing the move undermined elected representatives. However, Saarani insisted, “If he feels that he is underperforming and that the special officer will perform better by visiting the areas, then he needs to work harder.” He assured that the officers would be evaluated yearly, with potential for replacement if they failed to meet expectations. Are they going to undermine the opposition?
