PKR secretary-general Dr. Fuziah Salleh confirmed that preparations for the party elections, set for April to May, are progressing smoothly. She reiterated PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s stance, allowing party leadership to decide whether the president and deputy president positions will be contested. “This is a democratic party,” she said. PKR’s leadership elections will take place on May 24, while branch-level elections are scheduled from April 11 to 20. A party member had earlier said there will be no contest against Anwar and Rafizi Ramli. Some PKR branches also want no contest, which came under severe criticism for being ‘undemocratic’ and following Umno.
