1MDB has withdrawn its US$248 million civil suit against Najib Razak’s stepson, Riza Aziz, and his company, Red Granite, at the Kuala Lumpur High Court. Lead counsel Rabindra S Nathan informed the court of the decision, but no reason was provided. Riza’s lawyer, Shafee Abdullah, did not object. Judge Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah set Friday for cost submissions. Previously, Riza was given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal for money laundering charges, with discussions of a global settlement to recover the funds. Red Granite, co-founded by Riza, produced The Wolf of Wall Street using alleged 1MDB funds.
