Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Latheefa Koya has criticized Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over his claim that high-profile prosecutions in 2018 were rushed and driven by political vengeance. Speaking on Malaysiakini’s Straight Talk podcast, Latheefa questioned Anwar’s remarks, asking if he was undermining the judiciary. She pointed out that multiple judges had found Najib Razak guilty and asked why, if the prosecutions were flawed, Najib’s sentence was only reduced instead of overturned. Accusing Anwar of evasion, she challenged him: “Why don’t you just release Najib if you believe the prosecutions were malicious?”
