Hafizul Hawari, a travel agency manager, was sentenced to 14 years and six months in prison by the Kota Bharu Sessions Court for attempting to shoot his wife at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in 2024. Initially pleading not guilty to seven charges, including firearm possession, he changed his plea on February 19.

Judge Zulkifli Abdullah also imposed six strokes of the cane. The sentence includes multiple prison terms for various offenses committed on April 15, 2024. The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Faiz Fitri Mohamad, while Hafizul was represented by lawyer Nik Mohd Faris Syazwan Zainuzzaman.
