Ministry Tackles Rise of Fake Social Media Accounts

The Ministry of Communications is addressing the rise of fake social media accounts, including those using the name of the King, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim. Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching stated that despite efforts by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to remove these accounts, the issue persists.

Ministry Tackles Rise of Fake Social Media Accounts

Teo expressed disappointment with social media platforms like META for not taking firm action. She urged Malaysians to use MCMC’s AIFA, the Artificial Intelligence Fact-check Assistant, to verify information. AIFA aims to combat scams, fake news, and digital exploitation. Since its launch, AIFA has received 57,782 queries.
