Malaysiakini journalist released on bail

Malaysiakini journalist B Nantha Kumar claims he was framed during a sting operation after attempting to expose corruption involving a “Fly” syndicate at KLIA. The syndicate allegedly falsified immigration stamps for foreign workers. Nantha’s investigative reports revealed Pakistani agents’ involvement, prompting authorities to seek his cooperation. Acting as an undercover agent for a state immigration director, Nantha arranged a meeting with one agent to gather evidence. However, during the meeting, he was handed an envelope believed to contain money. Moments later, MACC officers arrested him, sparking controversy over the operation’s legitimacy.
