A tourist has vowed never to return to Malaysia after experiencing three bad incidents, the third involving police officers who allegedly extorted RM3,500 from him. He recounted on Reddit that at around 3am, while walking back to his hotel in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, he was stopped by officers who demanded his bag and made him unlock his devices.

The officers found an adult Telegram channel and a crypto exchange app, and accused him of being a money launderer. They demanded US$800. An investigation has been launched, and the tourist has since retrieved his money from IPD Dang Wangi.
