A US private company, Intuitive Machines, has landed its Athena spacecraft near the Moon’s South Pole to search for ice, but the machine may be upside down. Despite the irregular landing, Athena is still communicating with Earth. The mission aims to explore permanently shaded craters using a hopping robot called Micro Nova Hopper, designed to capture images and search for ice. The discovery of ice could support future lunar missions. NASA partners with Intuitive Machines to advance space exploration, hoping to gather crucial data for future human missions to the Moon. Not so intuitive?
