The High Court ordered 1MDB to pay RM225,000 in costs to Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz, the step-son of former Prime Minister Najib Razak, after withdrawing its lawsuit. The suit alleged Riza misused USD 248 million from 1MDB funds to finance movies and purchase properties. The decision followed testimony from MACC that the Attorney General’s Chambers had agreed to a global settlement. The case, involving 8,000 pages of documents and nine days of trial, ended with the court ruling that the defendants deserved compensation for their legal efforts.
