DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke reportedly met with party national chairperson Lim Guan Eng last week to persuade him not to seek re-election in the upcoming Central Executive Committee (CEC) election. The meeting was described as calm and amicable, but Guan Eng remained resolute in his decision to contest despite the risk of defeat. The discussion aimed to ease tensions within the party ahead of the March 16 election. Sources suggest that Loke may make a final attempt to convince Guan Eng before the crucial party polls at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam.
