DAP MP Teresa Kok denied approving allocations for the purchase of LG smartboards and Smart TVs for 16 schools in her constituency, following the arrest of two former staff members by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The two staff, who resigned last year, had managed her service centre’s finances and government allocations.
Fake Company
Kok clarified on Facebook that the investigation is likely linked to inflated pricing in the purchase of the equipment, where each school received RM99,000 in government allocation. However, the actual market price for three smartboards and three Smart TVs per school was only RM55,299, creating an overpriced difference of RM43,701 per school — totaling RM699,216 in discrepancies.
Further checks revealed that the invoice came from a fake company, not an official LG distributor. Kok had raised this issue in Parliament in November 2024 and pledged full cooperation with the MACC to uphold integrity and public trust.
