Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad announced a moratorium until May 1 for private general practitioners (GPs) to display medication prices. This aims to address GPs’ concerns over the rule’s impact on their sustainability.

The Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia supports the policy, but GPs expressed disappointment over gaps in policy justification. Dzulkefly promised to advocate for revising consultation fees under Schedule 7 of the Private Healthcare Facilities & Services Act 1998, which hasn’t been updated in over three decades. 

FPMPAM criticized conflicting laws and is prepared to pursue legal action to safeguard private primary care practices.
