The Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry (NRES), through Perhilitan, is intensifying efforts to combat wildlife trade by increasing enforcement at Malaysia’s entry points. Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad highlighted measures like routine inspections at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and collaboration with multiple agencies under the Integrated Khazanah Operation (OBK).

Malaysia, a transit hub for illegal wildlife trade, faces cases of smuggling elephant ivory, rhino horns, and exotic reptiles. On March 7, Nik Nazmi observed enforcement activities, including sniffer dog simulations. OBK operations continue to target wildlife crime hotspots nationwide, emphasizing stricter regulations and surveillance.
