The Expo will serve as a gateway to the Southeast Asian business community and has quickly become one of the region’s most important trade events. The organizer has strong base in most of the ASEAN countries having support of AIEC.
The Expo is expected to attract visitors and buyers from around 10 countries, including India, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, USA, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, offering an excellent opportunity to tap into the growing textile market in Southeast Asia.
The Philippine textile and textile machinery sector has been steadily evolving, with a strong focus on both domestic production and imports to meet local demand. The country’s textile industry is concentrated in Manila, Cebu, and Davao, with a blend of traditional hand-woven textiles, modern garments, and fabric production.
The sector plays a vital role in the country’s economy, providing employment to a significant portion of the workforce. However, the industry faces challenges such as the need for technological advancements, better supply chain management, and sustainability in production processes.
India holds a significant potential in exporting textile technology to the Philippines. India is known for its advanced textile machinery, raw materials, and expertise in textile engineering. With growing demand for automation and modernized textile machinery in the Philippines, India’s innovation in textile technology could cater to this need, enhancing production efficiency and competitiveness in the Philippine market.
In terms of bilateral trade, India and the Philippines have been strengthening their trade relations, with textiles being a key area of exchange. The trade between the two nations reached approximately $2.4 billion in 2022, with India exporting textiles, machinery, and raw materials. The potential for further growth in the textile machinery sector remains promising, driven by India’s competitive offerings in textile technology.
