It appears a unifying factor among Malaysians is that everyone is encouraged to speak Bahasa Malaysia. A recent comment from an X user claiming that non-Malays take advantage of others by speaking Malay has upset a lot of social media users.
Backlash over X user’s remarks targeting Non-Malays speaking in Malay
An X user made a problematic statement citing that if a non-Malay person is selling Baju Raya and is speaking Malay should be boycotted. Another user responded citing that if the sellers were to speak in another language, they would be criticised as well.
Others add that social media platforms, mostly made by Westerners, should be boycotted as well according to said X user’s logic. For the most part, it appears that Malaysians are tired with negative remarks being spread about one another.
