SEREMBAN, March 10 – The Seremban City Council’s (MBS) move to remove doors from flats over rent arrears of up to RM34,000 unfairly punishes the poorest residents, said Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM).

PSM deputy chairperson S. Arutchelvan argued that some affected residents were sub-tenants, while the original tenants profited by subletting at higher rents without paying MBS. He urged the council to transfer tenancy rights to genuine occupants instead. MBS defended its action, saying residents could stay temporarily without doors. However, PSM questioned why enforcement was delayed, allowing arrears to accumulate for years.
