Edmund Teoh, Federal Territories DAP publicity secretary, resigned from his party roles and withdrew his candidacy for the March 16 central executive committee election after being investigated by the MACC. The probe, confirmed on March 7, involves alleged bribes of RM500,000 linked to an RM1.5 million Project Mesra Rakyat fund for supplying interactive smart boards to Kuala Lumpur schools. Teoh, a former aide to Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, faces scrutiny under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009. Denying the “baseless, politically motivated” allegations, Teoh, who served DAP for 18 years, noted that no charges have been filed yet.
