A journalist pleaded not guilty to receiving an RM20,000 bribe to delete an article and avoid writing further about a foreign worker agency. Charged under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, he faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Journalist Denies Bribery Charge in Malaysian Court

Deputy Public Prosecutor Alis Izzati proposed a RM20,000 bail with additional conditions, while his lawyer sought a lower RM5,000 bail, citing financial responsibilities. Judge Datuk Mohd Nasir set bail at RM10,000 with conditions, including monthly reporting to the MACC and surrendering his passport. The court scheduled the next mention for April 23.
