NEW: PM Anwar tells DAP to keep working after party poll results

On March 17, 2025, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim congratulated DAP’s newly elected Central Executive Committee (CEC) after its party polls, urging them to “keep working.” DAP, a Pakatan Harapan ally, saw Gobind Singh Deo top the CEC with 2,785 votes and become national chairman, while Lim Guan Eng dropped to 26th with 1,719 votes. Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying lost her seat. Supporters, who voted for reforms in Malaysia, expect their implementation. Notably, Loke Siew Fook, now fifth with 2,508 votes, had vowed to resign if a citizenship bill amendment failed, underscoring DAP’s reform pressures amid internal shifts.
