The MySaveFood Programme saved 60.7 tonnes of surplus food worth RM726,000 from being wasted during Ramadan last year across 149 bazaars in seven states, including Melaka. SWCorp CEO Khalid Mohamed noted the surplus, from unsold items at bazaars, was redistributed to institutions, mosques, and housing areas.

This year, 4.8 tonnes of food in Melaka alone have already been salvaged. The initiative reduced landfill waste by 2.7% during Ramadan and benefits the needy. In Melaka, 5,304 kg of food have been saved so far across four bazaars since March 10, demonstrating the programme’s effectiveness in combating food waste.
