Zaidy Abdul Talib, PAS Selangor State Secretary, sharply criticized Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over the Urban Renewal Agenda (URA). He questioned whether Anwar is a dictator who cannot be criticized, after the Prime Minister threatened to counter public protests with a larger “government rally.” Zaidy, a former Selangor Exco member, stressed that the people reject URA because they seek justice, not the development that sidelines them. He claimed the legal amendments favor developers, and oppress the Malay minority, and asked how Anwar defends Malays if their voices are silenced. To him, demonstrations are a democratic right, and Anwar, once a reformasi champion, should respect the people, not threaten them.
