David Marshel, deputy president of the United for the Rights of Malaysians Party, urged Hindu MPs to confront the government over religious insults by preachers like Zamri Vinoth, who mocked Hindu rituals during Thaipusam. Speaking at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur on March 20, 2025, alongside activists Siti Kasim and S Shashi Kumar, David warned that silent MPs risk losing their seats. “If someone insults my mother, there is no way I will go to the person’s house,” he said, comparing the offense to attacks on faith. With 894 police reports filed against Zamri, David vowed to rally voters against inaction.
