An X user recently says that liberals should not celebrate Hari Raya, the celebrations that mark the end of Ramadan. This is in lieu of several backlash that was given by liberals when those who aren’t fasting were penalised. Netizens feel the said individual is trying to gatekeep an entire festive occasion.

Another user quickly responds by saying that he prays and fast, is he still not allowed to celebrate the festive season in lieu of him being a liberal? He sarcastically added that it’s only said X user who is able to determine those that can or cannot celebrate the festive seasons.
Others say that “poor” people are trying to gatekeep Hari Raya as they’re banning liberals from celebrating it. Most cultures would be happy if others were to join in their celebrations, but it appears that the ultra conservatives in this country are the opposite of that.
