In Penang, DAP chief Steven Sim quelled rumors of internal strife after the party’s recent leadership elections, insisting unity prevails. Speaking at a Pakatan Harapan breaking-fast event, he emphasized, “There are no enemies in DAP, only comrades.” The elections saw Penang’s Sim and Ramkarpal Singh rise as deputy secretaries-general, with Kasthuri Patto named international secretary. However, ex-leader P Ramasamy alleged Gobind Singh Deo’s chairmanship win—replacing Lim Guan Eng—was a tactical move by a rival faction. Sim praised Lim’s transformative legacy, now upheld by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who urged unity parties to address race and religion responsibly.
