48 Abandoned Buildings Identified in Kuala Lumpur, Says Minister

A total of 48 abandoned premises in Kuala Lumpur have been identified, comprising 25 residential and 23 commercial buildings, according to Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa. Locations such as Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Pudu, and Jinjang Utara reflect issues of urban decay, stalled development, or failed investments.

DBKL has issued notices under local government laws to address repair and cleaning, but only nine owners have responded so far.

Plans are being developed to restore these buildings through reuse or redevelopment strategies. Dr Zaliha confirmed the formation of a special task force to tackle the issue more comprehensively.
