The government has dismissed any plans for a congestion charge, emphasizing it as the absolute last resort. Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated that the government prioritizes improving public transport and reducing living costs without introducing new charges.
Government Rejects Congestion Charge, Focuses on Public Transport
Speaking at the Rapid KL On-Demand event, Loke highlighted efforts to make public transport more convenient for the public while commending the Finance Ministry for prioritizing enhancements without additional costs.
He reiterated that congestion charges are not on the Ministry of Transport’s agenda, echoing his earlier statement in the Dewan Negara about avoiding burdensome policies on private vehicle owners.
