Urimai deputy chairperson David Marshel has called on the government to crack down on those tagging Hindu temples as “kuil haram” (illegal temple) on Google Maps, branding it an offensive insult to Malaysia’s Hindu community. He highlighted that many temples, over 50 years old, stand in estates and suburbs where Indian laborers shaped the nation. “This disrespect threatens our multicultural harmony,” he warned in a statement, urging swift action from authorities and Google to scrub the derogatory labels. Marshel stressed that allowing such hate on a platform like Google Maps undermines national unity and cannot be tolerated in a diverse society.
