KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 — As the Ayer Kuning by-election looms on April 26, Perikatan Nasional (PN)’s sway over rural youth voters threatens Barisan Nasional (BN)’s long-held grip. PN’s aggressive social media campaigns are striking a chord with the young, who crave change amid rising living costs. With youth forming the largest voting bloc in the constituency’s 20,000-strong electorate, their turnout could be decisive. If PN mobilizes this restless generation, BN’s grassroots machinery might not be enough. BN’s proposed candidate, Fahmi Ahmad Jakhisi, faces a test to counter PN’s digital edge and rural appeal.
